NZ INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL

The 2010 NZ International Arts Festival runs throughout varied venues in wellington and the programme is as wide-ranging as ever, embracing a broad range of styles of theatre, music, dance, writers and visual arts.

A total of 930 artists from 30 countries are involved in the NZ International Arts Festival 2010. 18 of the works are Australasian premieres

A DAY IN POMPEII EXHIBITION

Uncover the story of pompeii, a cosmopolitan city that disappeared nearly 2000 years ago under more than ten metres of volcanic ash, in a day of pompeii. This exhibition gives you insight into the daily life of this ancient city, preseved by the ash that devastated it. There are more than 250 objects, ranging from mosacis to everyday items like cooking pots and wine jars. You can experience the drama and fear of the massive eruption of Mt Vesuvius in an immersive 3D theatre.
Te Papa is the only New Zealand venue for A Day in Pompeii.

Karori Wildlife Sanctuary - Sanctuary by night

Throughout the year experience the wonders of New Zealand's native forest at night.  This two-hour guided tour encompasses the dusk chorus then the distinctive calls of morepork, weka, and New Zealand's treasure, the little spotted kiwi.  The sound echoeing through the valley, while stargazing and enjoying the extensive glowworm show, is a truly a unique opportunity.  Added to this if you're really lucky, there is always the possibility of seeing a kiwi!  An absolute must to do for every nature lover.
